"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."  - John 14:18

Brian and I married 8 years ago, and we have a sweet dog named Linus.  We love the Lord and have enjoyed growing together in our faith. We have walked together through God’s blessings, and together we have wrestled prayerfully when God’s way for us seemed obscured by our own doubt. The most difficult path yet has been one of desiring to raise a family only to face the reality of infertility.

Initially, as we considered adoption, we found there were many things that we did not know (i.e. Open vs closed?  What do you mean some wait at least 2 years to be selected by a birthparent?  It costs how much?!)  Then one day God pointed us to a passage of scripture that changed our perspective; “Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

We began to thank God for this circumstance, for this opportunity to trust Him, for our utter dependence on Him.  We thanked God for our own adoption as His children.  And the peace came.  Could we move forward without knowing all the answers to our questions?  The answer to THIS question is “Yes.”

Our home study process has been approved!  We are ready and waiting to adopt!  There is another big hurdle between us and bringing home our baby: FUNDRAISING!  We have paid the initial fees for the application and home study, and are continuing to save money.  Our agency requires a large portion of the fees at the time we are chosen by a birth mom.  The total expense for the adoption of our baby is around $30,000 including agency fees, placement and legal fees.

There is nothing more humbling than asking other people for money, but we cannot do this alone.  This is an opportunity to trust God’s provision.  We invite you to partner with us on this journey by doing three things:

1. Please continue to pray for us, our baby and his or her birth family; this is so complex and affects more than just us.

2. Ask the Lord what He would have you give and consider donating on this website (scroll down to the How To Give section). If you are uncomfortable donating online, you can donate directly by emailing us at john14eighteen@gmail.com.  We will provide you with our contact information.

3. Share this page on social media and with your friends and family.  The best way you can get behind our story is to share it with someone else.

Our infertility and this adoption is really God’s story and although He may have specifically called us to action with adoption, we believe He calls all his people to be involved in adoption in some form (James 1:27). Donating to us is one way you can help adopt one of God’s beloved children.

We cannot begin to describe how much we appreciate your prayers, donations, love and encouragement.

Thank you and God bless you,
Brian and Amy Robertson
