Short Term Missions

The College Hills Missions Ministry has created a policy for supporting those who seek to go on short term mission trips.  If you are interested short term missions, please read the following policy. 

 College Hills Church Short Term Missions Policy

It is the desire of the Elders and Mission Ministry of College Hills Church of Christ to offer support to people desiring to be part of a short-term mission effort and who have a financial need.


Since the mission budget is limited, and the needs around the world are so great, we encourage participants to fund their trips by raising support from friends, family and personal funds.


Occasionally a participant cannot raise enough funds and does not have enough personal funds to pay for the trip.  In such cases, the Mission Committee will consider giving financial assistance based on the following guidelines:


1.  The participant must be an active member or a relative of an active member of College Hills Church of Christ.


2.  The participant must recruit a prayer team of at least 3 people who agree to pray for the participant every day during the trip.


3.  The participant must complete and submit the Application Checklist.


4.  The participant must have sent out at least 20 letters to friends and family requesting financial assistance.  The participant must also have done telephone follow-up with these people.  A list of the letter recipients must be available if requested by the committee.


5.  If the trip is sponsored by College Hills, it should be requested that any donations be sent to College Hills Church of Christ Mission Committee with a note stating who the funds are for. 


6.  If a participant raises more than enough money for the published cost of the trip through support donations and/or personal funds, any excess can be used to reimburse the participant for certain trip related expenses.  These expenses would include: passport, visa, immunizations, etc.  Original receipts must be supplied for each  item for which reimbursement is requested.  No  reimbursement can be made if Mission Ministry funds were used to finance part of the published trip cost.


7.  If any excess funds are raised for an individual for trips sponsored by College Hills the donor will be contacted and will have discretion about how they will be spent. 


8.  After funds have been raised through other sources, the Mission Committee will provide funds to the participant if he/she requests assistance.  In any situation, no more than one-half of the published trip cost will be paid by the Mission Ministry.  See the table below for the maximum amount paid by the Mission Ministry.
